Regarding the origin of the term 'mass formation psychosis' versus mass formation. Four times in four different interviews Desmet says he does not use the term psychosis with his term of 'mass formation'
Desmet says in this interview (and you can see the transcript and link to full interview at the above link
Desmet:
"Yes. Yes. I receive ah, every day, I don’t know exactly how many, but I receive many requests for podcasts and interviews, yes.
And it’s very nice to be here again, I want to say that to begin with, Yes…
Indeed, Robert Malone referred to me on the Joe Rogan Podcast, and he, um, he summarized my theory in a concise way using the term “mass formation psychosis.” And ah, actually, I never use that term myself. I always use the term “mass formation,” because ah in one way or another, I prefer that term. Both from an ethical and a pragmatic, and an intellectual perspective, to me it seems to be a little bit problematic to use the term “psychosis.” Um, but um, ah, well I know many people now, the term is trending now “mass formation psychosis.” But still, I will continue to talk with “mass formation” …"
Beautifully and worthily written! Thank you both for your massive contributions to psychiatry, medicine and science, and the health of humanity. May the lawsuit against you be dropped in recognition of the freedom of speech and tolerance of different hypotheses and perspectives which both science and medicine actually require.
I see people are avoiding a deep seeded argument about the topic of the suit. Just as well. But the plaintiff stood up for a destructive philosophy and he has not looked at the issue close enough to see the truth. I just watched both vital and valuable videos for the second time.
Who are "people" and what's the "deep-seeded argument" that they're "avoiding"? I skimmed the lawsuit that was shown online. Slander/defamation? I can't be black/white over this until I have different information.
Taking up your questions. "The people" are those commenting on the matter of the lawsuit. "The deep-seeded argument" is about the validity of Mattias Desmet psychological theory called "mass formation psychosis." Dr. Breggin believes it to be false. Dr. Malone believes in the theory and promotes it. Here's a little explanation:
GregCantin, I'm interested in the answer on this. Many months ago Desmet was deliberately not using the word "psychosis" in all his media; and I was unsure where it had originated from at all because it had popped up somewhere early on. Is the use of the term "psychosis" at the heart of this? (Again, I'm just saddened by the whole thing. I'm a fan of the Breggins AND of Desmet, though I'm NOT a follower of psychology/psychiatry).
Terrain theory is a hard nut to crack for many. They'll all eventually come around. I think the jury is out on Malone. We'll see eventually. I hope you're able to help your son. Psychiatry, and pharma-med, are pure filth.
Longtime follower of yours from years ago from Mad in America. Regret to learn of this lawsuit. The Corona Investigation Committee experienced a split between its founders (Fuellmich and Fischer) a couple month ago. A different situation, but a public issue between people who were on the same side. Very difficult times.
I suppose one could debate whether the mass formation theory is in fact a "theory of psychosis" based on analyzing its parts, even though Desmet never "approved" the word. If one asks if the theory helps understand and resolve our current situation one will see the truth/non-truth of it.
Your royal "one" isn't a helpful rhetorical device. "One will see..."? No. You see what you see; and I see what I see. And "non-truth" isn't a thing. I like the Breggins, and I like Desmet. The Breggin camp needs to give space to people who don't choose sides, or it will alienate them.

Looking here it gives one use of the term "Mass Formation Psychosis."

GregCantin, Genuine question: Do you have a dog in this race?

Thanks. Dr. Breggin is on the right side of truth, and brave for speaking up when it comes to all this.
God bless you both!! Thank you for all that you do!! We are praying for God's protection and vindication for you, in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Amen!!!
