I can definitely say as somebody who struggles with a lot of negative self-talk it's required reading.
The effect it's had on me has been profound in so many unexpected ways.
The most important lesson I learned from reading the book was that one is not forever cursed to be stuck in self-hatred forever, gradual change is possible and attainable.
I am still working to try to incorporate more joyful awareness into my life any way I can.
Dear Gabriel, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with how helpful Dr. Breggin's book has been for you! I will make sure he sees your note~ Very best, Ginger
Dear Gabriel: Thank you for these kind remarks and for being the first commenter. I want readers to know that I have never spoken with Gabriel and this was a wholly unsolicited testimonial and is deeply appreciated. It's my earnest hope that many other people have found similar help which makes my work worthwhile. Ginger and I wish you increasing joyful awareness. ~ Peter Breggin
Hi Rosemary--me too. here is the link to his hour talk also. Peter's Guilt Shame and Anxiety book made a huge difference for me, especially regarding shame... Very best, Ginger
I found out how to triumph over and transcend guilt, shame, and anxiety on the way to greater emotional freedom and a more rational, loving, and productive life by calling out to The Redeemer — Jesus Christ. When in despair I cried out to God and asked Him to show me the way to live my life and have peace I knew He heard me because I instantly experienced what I now know is “shalom”. God directed me to Jesus who loves me so very much. His love has erased all my guilt and shame. The anxiety fades away as I fully trust in Him no matter what comes my way remembering and believing the promise of Romans 8:28. God bless you Dr. Peter and Ginger Breggin. Thank you for your invaluable work helping people get off the drugs and staying alive so they can recover and hopefully receive Christ if they haven’t, yet.
Your magnificent work in giving us these books, substacks and podcasts is truly appreciated.
I don't believe in coincidences. I actually reserved a copy of this book at my local library only a few days ago, and this appeared in my inbox today....

Dear Pash— what I realize is that it is exactly our negative emotions that the manipulators will try to use to control us—Ginger
absolutely - and we feed the archons/dark forces with our fear and hatred/anger/...and boy do they know how to trigger us...
