I objected to the use of 21 Lessons for the 21st Century as an educational resource when it was offered to the schools a few years ago. I didn't know who Mr. Harari was at the time, the book was not inspiring, and intentionally written in a kind of monotone. It appeared the intent was to remove all value judgement from history: a kind of site preparation for future construction.
Then he re-appeared during the Covid crisis ... and then it made sense.

Yes. Actually humans are the thing that matters most. Yes, the environment matters; and, yes, there is a basic need for adequate prosperity enough for individual creativity and development as well as for super-ordinary projects --- especially those that benefit common spaces, like libraries, parks, universities, gymnasiums, concert halls, public works., theaters, museums, stadia, roadways, bike ways, and so on. Technology is great if integrated in measured ways into the genuine scientific process of discovery and critical hypothesis testing, as well as review in a framework that also takes rigorous (not enforced) history, philosophy, and theology into account. That is, technology must be sagacious and directed toward The Good, and not the "disruptive" ways so favored by today's monsters.

I objected to the use of 21 Lessons for the 21st Century as an educational resource when it was offered to the schools a few years ago. I didn't know who Mr. Harari was at the time, the book was not inspiring, and intentionally written in a kind of monotone. It appeared the intent was to remove all value judgement from history: a kind of site preparation for future construction.
Then he re-appeared during the Covid crisis ... and then it made sense.
